Todd R. Daviau, Ph.D., MBA

President and CEO

Todd Daviau, an accomplished scientific leader, brings almost 30 years of pharmaceutical experience and knowledge to CoreRx, as well as being one of principal founders.

Prior to founding CoreRx, he served as Director of the Analytical and Pre-Formulation Laboratory for MDS Pharma Services in Tampa, FL. In this role, he directed the analytical group of over 20 scientists responsible for all the analytical, stability, and pre-formulation activities in support of over 75 stability, formulation and/or manufacturing projects.

Dr. Daviau was also a strategic analytical team member with Nova Pharmaceuticals (later Guilford Pharmaceuticals), and involved in a number of NDA programs, including the development of Gliadel®.

Todd is acknowledged as a creative leader focused on advancing projects with experience in multiple therapeutic areas. He is an expert in optimizing the drug discovery process through optimal resource allocation, process improvements and using scientific acumen to resolve complex project related issues. Todd brings a breadth of pharmaceutical experience, from drug discovery through research and development, analytical (R&D and QC.) and management experience in top-tier multinational pharmaceutical organizations. He is recognized as global, strategic thinker, with demonstrated ability to deliver pre-clinical and clinical candidates, within stringent timelines.

Dr. Daviau holds a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology and Chemistry, a PhD in Natural Product Chemistry and an MBA in Business Management.

Mark Licarde

Vice President and Chief Operations Officer

Mark Licarde has an extensive pharmaceutical manufacturing background which spans 25+ years in the industry, and is one of the original founders/principals of CoreRx.

Mark started his pharmaceutical career with Bristol Myers Squibb where his mechanical abilities, innovativeness, resourcefulness, and leadership earned him the Employee Excellence Award in his role as PM Specialist.  From there, Mark moved to Mylan where he served as senior manufacturing manager and was responsible for the day-to-day operations in the manufacturing facility. Mark then served in an entrepreneurial and leadership role at MDS Pharma Services and held various leadership positions within the company prior to founding CoreRx.

As the Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, Mark’s role includes overseeing the senior management team for the Administrative, Facilities, Finance, Manufacturing, and Warehouse departments. Working closely with the department managers allows Mark to better support the personnel, equipment, systems, and processes throughout the facility. 

Brian McMillan, M.S.

Vice President and Chief Technical Officer

Brian McMillan has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical development arena, beginning his professional career at Roxane Laboratories as an Analytical Development Chemist prior to promotion into Formulation and Process Development.  During his time at Roxane Labs as well as his following time at Bausch & Lomb, he worked on the formulation development of ANDA and NDA programs across variety of dosage forms including solid oral, liquid oral, ophthalmic and nasal. He was a lead formulator and process development scientist for Retisert™, approved in April 2005. Retisert™ is the world’s first intra-vitreal drug implant for the treatment of chronic non-infectious uveitis affecting the posterior segment of the eye.  Following his position at Bausch and Lomb, Brian joined MDS Pharma services where he was a Senior Manager of Formulation Development. Since the founding CoreRx as one of its principles, he has lead formulation development and scientific efforts for the organization.

In addition to his position at CoreRx, Inc. he is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at the University of South Florida where he has taught pre-formulation and dosage form development. Brian holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from The Ohio State University and an M.S. in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from The University of Florida where he is currently a Ph.D. graduate student in Medicinal Chemistry.

Tim Hudson, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Tim Hudson has held CFO and senior level finance positions with both publicly traded and privately held companies, most recently serving as CFO with VOAF and SCI. Prior to VOAF, Tim was Corporate Controller with MDS Pharma Services and Controller Assistant, Executive Director of Finance with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance from the University of Kentucky. Tim is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida and Georgia.

Janice Cacace, Ph.D.

Director of Formulations

Dr. Janice Cacace’s career has spanned over 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry in the areas of formulation, product development, consulting and academia.

She has held management level positions involved in pharmaceutical product development for 15 years, at Sancilio and Company, Azopharma and Ivax. Her experience covers a wide range of dosage forms and product types. These include tablets, capsules, spray-dried dispersions, wet and dry granulations, soft gelatin capsules, oral liquids, topicals, injectables, medical foods, and covers both generic and new chemical entities.

Dr. Cacace holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from Purdue University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutics from the University of Florida.

Simon Daw

Director of Operations

Simon Daw brings over 25 years of pharmaceutical manufacturing experience. Simon has worked at both brand name pharmaceuticals, CMO’s, and CRO’s specializing in: product development, manufacturing support, process engineering/validation, manufacturing management and plant management.

 Prior to joining CoreRx, he held management positions with Burroughs Wellcome, Glaxo Wellcome, Cataltyica, Novapharm, Bausch & Lomb, Lannett, and DSM Pharmaceuticals.

Simon brings extensive experience to the CoreRx manufacturing team and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath.

Eric Primelles-Perez

Associate Director

Eric Primelles-Perez has held management level positions in analytical development of pharmaceutical products for nearly a decade at Wyeth, Pfizer and Nephron Pharmaceuticals. His experience covers a wide range of dosage forms and product types and includes:  tablets, capsules, soft gelatin capsules, oral liquids, inhalation solutions and suspensions, ophthalmic, injectables, dietary supplements, nutritionals, and covers both generic and new chemical entities.

 Eric holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from University of Las Villas, Cuba. He attended the Doctoral Program in Science (Chemistry), University of Las Villas, Cuba.

Kyle Brinkman

Director of Quality Assurance

Kyle Brinkman brings over 17 years of expertise in the pharmaceutical industry to CoreRx.  Kyle began his career as a chemist in the QC Laboratory of King Pharmaceuticals (Daniels Pharmaceuticals at the time) and progressed to Stability Supervisor overseeing nearly 200 stability studies.  As a Senior Lab Supervisor he led the work of four shifts and 24 chemists towards an approved NDA.

He then decided to take a career change to validation and increased his experience to include metrology, equipment, facility, cleaning and computer validation.  Kyle served as the chair of King’s Corporate 21 CFR Part 11 Committee for all five sites. Kyle’s most notable career achievements include a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a patent application for preserving the potency of Levothyroxine sodium by means of modified atmosphere packaging.

Kyle then came to CoreRx in 2012 with two years of experience as a Director of Quality from a local contract manufacturer of OTC and Nutritional products.  His leadership has been instrumental in the qualification of CoreRx’s new facility and reinvigoration of the quality systems.

Bill Reid

Director- Project Management & Logistics

Bill Reid began his career as a quality control chemist at R.P. Scherer and then moved on as an analytical chemist to Bausch & Lomb developing methods to characterize nasal products.  His work there played a critical role with in-vitro bioequivalence studies which resulted in some of the first ANDA approvals for nasal products. Bill moved on from there to join MDS Pharma Services where he initially served an analytical chemist with a focus on characterization testing across a number dosage forms. He later moved into project management, where he established a strong track record of consistently delivering on projects with significant challenges and tight time lines. His proven team leadership and attention to detail resulted in great customer feedback.

Bill holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA.

 

Mark DaFonseca

Executive Director- Business Development

Mark DaFonseca brings nearly 20 years of pharmaceutical and business development experience across the CRO/CMO sector.

Prior to CoreRx he began his career with AAI International as an analytical chemist, followed by positions of increasing responsibility in client services and business development. From there, Mark focused on sales & marketing, successfully leading business development teams with Aptuit, Catalent, and CRMG prior to joining CoreRx. This background has provided him exposure acoss the entire drug development paradigm, including experience in discovery, preclinical, CMC and clinical trial activities.

Mark holds both a MBA in Business and a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
